ASM 3: Ring Tones
The first painting is Acrylic and mixed media on canvas: 20" x 24".
Each of the following paintings are 18" x 18" on wood panel.
I have always been drawn to patterns. The sewing and quilting I have done over the years may have been driven by a desire to select and handle patterned fabric.
ASM 2: FIRST BLUSH
This series is acrylic and mixed media on panel. Sizes are 18” square and 12” square. In this series I was interested in playing with the process of building a textured design on the panel and then developing a painting on the created surface. I used this texture to build transparent layers, lines and patterns. Each painting uses a limited complimentary palette in predominately mid-tone to high key values with an a few dark lines, made primarily with a soft water-soluble graphite stick.
In this series I used joint compound to make the texture. I would like to experiment with this process further incorporating other materials, and fine- tuning my tools as I found some textures were delightful to work with and others that were too strong. Also, I would like to experiment with continuing the texture building process into the early to middle stages of the painting process.
